...i realize i'm such a failed xanga user. haha. oh well.
so i've decided to work on a new life plan. any suggestions are welcome. I suppose that's what happens the closer one gets to graduation, you start to re-evaluate your life and your decisions and wonder if you've made the right choices. So here I am, prepping to go into my fall senior semester and I'm trying to decide what I want to do...Grad school? Take some time off & work? Take some time off & travel (assuming such money exists...of that I find a way to grow it on trees...haha)? Grad school for math? Grad school for business? Or completely go the other direction and try to go to Brown for Egyptology? Open a bakery? Haha that's my fall-back plan if nothing else works...haha. Yeah I don't know, I really just need to figure out what I want to do....
Anyway, oh new song appreciation: "It Just Ain't Right" - Ne-Yo. Yes yes, I do love almost everything Ne-Yo does, however, this actually is a very good song, that was never released as a single or anything off of "In My Own Words"....it's got a good beat and is kind of catchy and yeah...check it out :]
Oh some other good songs I've come to appreciate in the last few months:
"Kryptonite" -Mario
"Take You Down" - Chris Brown
"Littlest Things" - Lily Allen
"Rehab" - Rihanna (i'm normally not a fan of rihanna but hey how can you not like a song that justin timberlake and timbaland worked on? haha)
"Heaven Sent" - Keyshia Cole
"All That I'm Living For" - Evanescence
"American Boy" - Estelle feat. Kanye West
"Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" - Billy Joel
"23" - Jimmy Eat World
"BetterMan" - Musiq Soulchild
"Circle" - Marques Houston (i think i listed this one before, still a very good song, but i just have a new appreciation for it)
"The Way You Make Me Feel" - Michael Jackson
"Let Me Get This Right" - Ne-Yo
"Fallin Out" - Keyshia Cole
"I Miss You" - Aaliyah (old song but pretty good)
"If I Never See Your Face Again" - Maroon 5 feat. Rihanna (good song without rihanna but adding her to it and changing it to be like a conversation between ex lovers makes it a bit more interesting)
"Live It Up (remix)" - Roscoe Umali feat. Bobby Valentino & E-40 (i don't like E-40..i know blasphemy since i live in the Bay, but yeah this song is pretty good for dancing)
there's reasons for why I like all these songs but for most of them it's just 'cause they're good for choreographing.....and some I just like because I do. But yeah, all good songs nonetheless that have mostly been ignored so check them out. :]
yeah i know i only write about music....but there's a lot of under appreciated music out there.
sigh....i should be doing homework....or cleaning out my car (sadface...'cause my dad is selling it...).....
last note: "Like A Boy" is pretty much one of the best songs ever...if you don't understand why, listen to the lyrics. i swear i'm not a man-hater as my family thinks...i just think that the double standard that exists is unfair.
hmm i suppose i should leave on a more upbeat note....oh yeah, today was Free Slushee Day 'cause it's 7/11 (July 11) and so I got a free Coca Cola slushee and that pretty much made my day. Sorry for those of you that missed it 'cause it was kind of amazing. lol. i like slushees. [: hehe.
so I decided to do a blog simply for the fact that I haven't done one in a while. I'd rather be watching Timeline right now but my TV has been usurped :( sadface.
anyway, happy late new year to everyone! or happy early chinese new year! ^_^! I think I'm looking forward to this year, I'm expecting good and exciting changes to happen. One change already happened, I quit my job. It's kind of weird, I feel like I have too much free time, but I suppose that'll all change next week when I go back to school. But we'll see.
lol I always start to blog when I'm putting off things. At the moment I should be either finishing my internship apps & resume, or my powerpoints for my decal class starting soon...
So over break I was browsing over itunes, trying to expand my ever-growing library :) hehe anyway, I started reading the reviews of some of the songs/albums (i'm tryna be tech correct, 'cause since they're on itunes they're not really cds anymore, right? they're albums? or are they digital releases? idk anymore. i give up on keepin up with technological terms...lol), and there are a lot of songs that are way underrated, thus I have picked a few that I think people should check out because they are just as good as, if not better than, the super popular and high rated songs off those albums. so here's part of the list:
B.U.D.D.Y. ~ Musiq Soulchild (from the album Luvanmusiq) [itunes says it was a flop, a bad way to start the album, personally i like it. it's upbeat and catchy. c'mon, "it'da be fly if u were my b-u-d-d-y, don't be shy, give it a try, i can be your's and you can be mine", it's catchy. overall, Luvanmusiq is a good album, you can see how he's changed since the Aijuswanaseing album, sidenote: check out Just Friends (Sunny) from that album, also a good song. another sidenote: check out the songs "teachme" & "ms.philadelphia" from Luvanmusiq]
Favorite Girl ~ Marques Houston (from the album Veteran) [itunes actually only mentions "Wonderful" as a standout song, which I can't deny, is a good song, you can definitely recognize Ne-Yo's collabo on it, which i have to admit automatically makes me like it...lol, but anyway, they should've also mentioned this song, "Favorite Girl". it's a good song.]
Circle ~ Marques Houston (from the album Veteran) [the above goes for this song too, it didn't get a whole lot of radio play, but it's also a really good song.]
Take It From Here ~ Justin Timberlake (from the album Justified) [itunes does not even mention this song, but it's definitely an underappreciated song for this album. a good song but it didn't have the same instant hit features of songs like "Rock Your Body" & "Senorita", both also good songs i might add :), so it didn't get the same attention, but it was good nonetheless & should've been recognized. it's a very sweet song. very lovey dovey. but like i said, good nonetheless]
Hey Baby (After The Club) ~ Ashanti [so everyone is saying how this is just Diddy & Keyshia Cole's "Last Night" redone, I beg to differ. Yes, it has the same back beat, which comes from the fact that the same dude worked on the songs, BUT if you actually listen to it, Ashanti's song is just overall better, less annoying I think. ok well maybe I just like it better 'cause it doesn't have Diddy's monotone rappin lol...that fool can produce some good songs, but only if the focus is not on his rappin....my opinion. but yeah, check it]
I would continue but the pain in my back is requiring me to seek ibuprofen, but one more, this is just a song I have a new appreciation for, I heard a guy sing it acoustically and it was pretty good so now I have a new appreciation for this song, it's different from a guy's perspective, it seems like it means more but anyway,
Cater 2 U ~ Destiny's Child [i used to hate this song, but when it's sung from a guy's perspective it just comes off differently, it doesn't seem sexist like when DC sings it lol. but I'm feelin the DC version now.]
below is the guy version of "Cater 2 U". the guy singing is this bay area indie artist called Passion (he's filipino, yay for asians in the music industry!). he's pretty good. check out the rest of his stuff. he does a great cover of "My Boo" - Usher & Alicia Keys and a combo cover of "Can't Help But Wait" - Trey Songz & "So Sick" - Ne-Yo. his personal stuff is good too, like the song "Well Done". check it out.
before i go though, i just want to point out how you can now use "google" and "youtube" as verbs. "go google this", or "youtube this person". haha...oh the times we live in. yeah that's my final thought. ponder it. haha.
so I'm actually gonna go to CAL football games...amazing...i don't even really like football...but i'm gonna go anyway....see! I do have SOME school spirit...it may not be a lot but it is some!
so I was drivin home from work and I was listenin to the radio and it was "Beautiful Girls" - Sean Kingston, and I'm a little tired of that song so I switched over to another station which plays oldies on Sunday nights, and lo and behold it's "Stand By Me"....if you've ever listened to "Beautiful Girls" you understand why that is significant. Anyway, so it occurs to me that almost all music nowadays is based on old stuff....interestin huh? Like all the popular stuff anyway. yeah that was my thought for the day. lol.
aight, it's time for bed, gotta be back at work early. ugh.
